Selena Gomez stars as Alex Russo, the adventurous teenage daughter with magical powers, in the Emmy Award-winning series "Wizards of Waverly Place." 

Born on July 22, 1992 in Dallas, Texas, Gomez started acting at age seven when she landed a role in the television series "Barney & Friends." Gomez was a series regular for two seasons. 

Gomez starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies "Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie" and "Princess Protection Program."  Her other television credits include guest appearances on "Hannah Montana" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."

She landed her first feature film role in 2003, when she was cast in the sci-fi action adventure film "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over."  She lent her voice to "Horton Hears a Who!" in 2008 and starred in the direct to DVD movie "Another Cinderella Story."  She stars as Beezus in "Ramona and Beezus," scheduled for release in 2010.

Signed to Hollywood Records in 2009, Gomez will release her solo debut album "Kiss and Tell."  She recorded three original songs for the "Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie" soundtrack for Disney Records and has recorded songs for "101 Dalmatians," "Another Cinderella Story," and "Tinker Bell." 

She aspires to develop film and television projects with her production company, July Moon Productions.

Gomez resides in Los Angeles with her parents and five rescue dogs.  In her spare time she enjoys photography, cooking and creating and editing movies for her fans.
