Actress, musician, singer and songwriter Demi Lovato stars as Allison "Sonny" Munroe, a talented Midwestern girl who, after a television producer discovers her homemade videos posted on her website, makes the leap to Los Angeles to join the cast of "So Random!," the most popular sketch comedy TV show for kids and tweens, in the sitcom "Sonny With A Chance" on Disney Channel.
Lovato also stars as Mitchie Torres in the highly anticipated Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam." She originated the role in "Camp Rock" and performed on its Platinum-certified soundtrack.
In June 2009, Lovato starred opposite Selena Gomez ("Wizards of Waverly Place") in the hit Disney Channel Original Movie "Princess Protection Program." The premiere delivered 9.9 million total viewers.
A talented musician, Lovato's sophomore album, "Here We Go Again," debuted in July 2009 on Hollywood Records at #1 on the Billboard 200, selling over 107,000 units in the first week. Her first album, "Don't Forget," was released in September 2008 and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. In Summer 2009, Lovato headlined her first tour, featuring special guest David Archuleta.
Born August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas, Lovato's singing talent parlayed her into numerous pageants on both the local and state level from the time she was age seven. She began her acting career at age nine in the role of Angela on "Barney and Friends," a part she played for two years. After landing her role in "Barney and Friends," Lovato studied under the area's leading vocal coach, Linda Septien, and won a coveted invitation to Septien's Master Class. Lovato also studied piano, guitar and songwriting, as well as hip-hop dance with instructor Kat Garcia. Lovato wrote over 100 songs and produced four in-studio including "Shadow," which helped her land the lead role of Charlotte in Disney Channel's short-form series "As the Bell Rings." She also had a lead role in Nickelodeon's "Just Jordan" and a guest appearance on 20th Century Fox's "Prison Break." She was also featured in national television commercials for Hasbro, the Fort Worth Zoo and DirecTV.
She has two sisters, Dallas and Madison, and now resides in Los Angeles.
