Steve Marmel is the creator and executive producer of Disney Channel's new comedy series, "Sonny With A Chance."
A stand-up comedian since the age of 18, he also serves as co-executive producer and head writer of Disney's animated series "Yin Yang Yo!," seen on Disney XD and Jetix platforms worldwide.
In 1996 a Hanna Barbera executive saw Marmel perform and thought he'd be ideal as a writer on the series "Johnny Bravo"; he's been working non-stop in animation ever since.
Among his writing/producing credits are the animated series "Fairly OddParents," "Danny Phantom" and "Cow and Chicken." Additionally he was producer and co-writer for all the "Fairly Oddparents" Movies and specials, including "Abra-Catastrophe" and "Channel Chasers," "The Fairly Oddparents Musical," "Fairy Idol," as well as all three "Jimmy Timmy Power Hour" specials.
He has been nominated for multiple Emmy and Annie Awards for his work as a writer, producer and songwriter.
Born in Los Angeles, Marmel grew up in Lincolnwood, Illinois. He's starred in his own specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and has appeared on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" three times.
An alumnus of University of Wisconsin, where he majored in Journalism, Marmel and his wife reside in Los Angeles.
