Fish Hooks
Created by children's book illustrator and author Noah Z. Jones, this imaginative, eye-catching and funny animated series revolves around three tweens, Bea, Milo and Oscar, as they navigate the choppy waters of high school... and, they happen to be fish.
Starring are Chelsea Kane ("JONAS L.A.") as Bea, an overly dramatic goldfish whose goal is to become the world's greatest actress, Kyle Massey ("Cory in the House") as Milo, an optimistic guy who loves his friends unconditionally, and Justin Roiland ("The Sarah Silverman Program") as Oscar (Milo's brother), a homebody who loves sci-fi and has a secret crush on Bea. The recurring guest roles are a who's who list of talent including Rachel Dratch ("Saturday Night Live"), Richard Simmons, Jerry Stiller, Tiny Lister, Atticus Shaffer and Edie McClurg.
Maxwell Atoms ("The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy") is the executive producer and Noah Z. Jones is the co-executive producer. Carl Greenblatt ("Chowder") and Bill Reiss ("Chowder") direct the episodes.
The series is set in a world of adventure - a giant fish tank neighborhood, located in the center of Bud's Pet Shop. The comedic stories catch up with the three BFFs (best fish friends) as they experience the typical challenges and triumphs, fish drama and fish cliques of their freshman year at Freshwater High. Episodes include, Milo's fame-seeking attempt to make the school football team, Bea racing against time to stop yearbook editor Clamantha from publishing a bad school photo, the group taking an excursion to "Hamsterwood," Oscar deciding to become a "goth" fish, and Bea wanting to be treated like an adult - only to quickly realize the downside.
If the tween years weren't lively enough, the trio uses special land suit apparatuses (fish-sized backpacks filled with water) to literally become fish out of water on their adventures to the untamed frontier of the pet shop, a strange, surreal and occasionally cartoony-dangerous place where they encounter giant lobster attacks and Wilford, the enormous cat who roams the store, among other surprises. If they stick together, Bea, Milo and Oscar learn that they can get through nearly anything with their fins intact.
Other characters include:
Clamantha (a clam), a wall-eyed teen girl who is optimistic about everything including her chances of making the cheerleading squad. She is in love with Oscar and has built a shrine to him.
Jocktopus (an octopus), a big simple-minded, eight-armed school bully who refers to himself in the third person yet somewhere underneath all the meat, is a brain and a heart longing to be expressed.
Shellsea (a jewel fish), Bea's best girlfriend who is independent, focused and ready to speak her mind.
Koi (a Koi fish), a sweet teenage girl, who makes grunting noises, but is always there for her friends.
Mr. Baldwin (a seahorse), the pregnant homeroom teacher at Freshwater High who's down in the dumps about his life.
Principal Stickler (a sea urchin), a paranoid authoritarian who screams out orders to his assistant, Nurse Fishington.
Coach Salmons (a salmon fish), the enthusiastic P.E. teacher who is quick to offer motivation or a diagram of the food pyramid. His motto is, "Move Your Fins."
Mr. Mussels (a mussel), a caring drama teacher who truly wants to motivate and nurture his students but yells his positive messages like a drill sergeant.
The comedy series is produced by Disney Television Animation using a mixture of digital animation and photorealism. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.
